Train as a group
Workout with friends without rebuilding the plan every evening
Training together fails in the gaps: unclear time, unclear headcount, and a plan that lives in three different chats. Put the session, the status, and the conversation in one group.
Decide the session before you debate it
Pick the gym, the day, and the kind of session before anyone asks who is free. A push day at the usual place is easier to join than an open question. In GymBuddys, that plan can sit on the group as a workout and a status, so late answers do not erase it.
Coming But Late is a real state. It tells the crew you are still in, without forcing everyone to wait on a vague "omw". Not Sure and Absent are just as useful: they stop the group from planning around a person who is not coming.
One group for the people who train
Create a group, invite the partners you actually train with, and let a moderator keep membership tidy. The group chat is for the session, not for every other topic in your life. Messages stay with the status board, so "I'm coming" and "we're doing squats" are not in different apps.
Moderators can pin the gym. When you arrive, mark Arrived, or allow location while the app is open so a check-in can happen near that pin. Location stays off unless you allow it, and it is not collected in the background.
Rest days, challenges, and the week after
A crew that only celebrates perfect weeks falls apart on the first busy one. Shared rest days make an off day look planned. Challenges and leaderboards, plus attendance history, give you something to look at besides today's mood.
Personal logs are still there when you want them: exercises, personal records, habits, and streaks. Nutrition tools cover macros, water, meal plans, and a meal photo estimate. Coach can suggest a workout from what you type. Treat that as a draft, not a prescription. The FAQ explains the limit in plain language.
If the hard part is the habit rather than the logistics, start with staying consistent at the gym. If you are comparing this to a sets-and-reps log, read the attendance tracker guide.
A simple way to run next week
- Name the days you will train and the days you will rest.
- Put those days on the group, including the rest days.
- Each morning, set a status before the chat starts asking.
- Mark Arrived when you are there, then log what you actually did.
- On Sunday, look at attendance history instead of arguing from memory.
That loop is the product. GymBuddys does not sell gym memberships and does not collect fees for a facility.
